"I am strange. But I cannot do anything about it. I am born like that"

Like you know I am following the school of journalism. And today I asked myself a question, how is it possible that the war in Iraq gets let's coverage then the ' war'  in Sao Paolo (Brasil). Let em first explain something about that war in Sao Paolo. Apparantly the police moved some important criminals from one prisons to another. Plus they arrested a few high-shots of the criminal world in Sao Paolo. Now the other criminals are stiring. They want the 'bosses' released. And right now! That's why there is 'war' . I call it ' war' . but it's more of a guerrillia. They shoot at goverment buildings and at police stations. But this weekend they also targeted civilian buildings and cars. Already 81 were killed. A policeman said in the weekend: "Well, this weekend is more bloodier then in Iraq. In Iraq there were 30 persons killed, here 60". But I began to think. 60 killed in Sao Paolo? 30 in Iraq? Ok, I heard about Sao Paolo this morning on the news. But nothing else. But then the 30 dead in Iraq? I didn't hear about that. And I am pretty interestted in the war in Iraq. I think everyone begins to find it normal that in Iraq every weekend more then 30 people die. But why? Aren't they people who should live? Aren't they important enough? Is it maybe a sort of control from the Americans to let us think everything is ok in Iraq. And that it's not that on every streetcorner an American dies. No, it's beginning to become normal, that's it. And when soemthing is normal, why report on it. That's like writing that snow is white or a ball is round. Still, I think the press should take their responsibility and do report on this 'normal' stuff. People are dying there because they are killed, that isn't normal!! Today again no article about Iraq in the papers. But yet, on the frontpage of several papers there was a message that in a zoo a bear killed a monkey. What? And not that a human killed another human? Press and future press (me and my fellow-students) should report about this. Keep doing, keep telling us what happens in the world. That is their (maybe my future) job. They should tell us about it and not find it normal. Cause it isn't...
